We took a bus and ferry from Penang to get to Langkawi, happy to be on our way to an island again!

Triff had arranged to meet us and take us to the guesthouse he was staying in so we met outside the mall and made our way to the guesthouse. Triff had kindly arranged a discounted room for us and as soon as we had dropped our bags off we headed for the beach and went for a welcome beer at a bar. Triff is great company and we were both very happy to see him again. Gem was enjoying her beer so much she didn´t see Lonneke and Virgil walk in to the bar! ....and so our last party in Malaysia had begun!

We spent most days lazing on the beach and buying duty free beer in the afternoon to drink on the beach before heading up to Joe´s Bar where we had a couple of really fun night - see pics! We were going to do a tour of the island one day with Triff after a very civilised morning tea but Triff had a wee accident on his bike so we decided to return home and take it easy for the rest of the day.

We met an American called Julian and Malik from Pakistan on our penultimate day and had a great night with everyone. We all ended up at a local restaurant and all shared curry and rice, eating with our hands - lots of yellow fingernails the next day!

On our last night we had a farewell BBQ at our guesthouse, we bought sausages and burgers, bread, ketchup and beer, all we needed for a fab night! We were sad to say goodbye to our now very good friends but we know we will see them again and we fly from Langkawi to Singapore to catch our flight to Australia tomorrow!
