We were woken before 6am by 2 porters at the tent with hot water and our choice of hot drinks to be passed into the tent. This is again 5 star camping and the hot chocolate with extra sugar tasted amazing! Breakfast was great with a hot sweet porrage drink, and pancakes etc yum.
The first part of the walking was easier as a more gentle slope up to some farmhouses were were were shown farming tools and into the house (in return for 1 sole each - about 25p) and it was amazing to see how people live. Inside the house they had guinea pigs, but not as pets they were another livestock for food. The children were really happy and the guide pointed out that people up here are "rich in crops" so are well fed.
The slope got harder and Matt was the first on the spare horse as struggling the worst with altitude (led by a very jolly guide called Victor). One of the other girls had a ride too as she was struggling with bad tummy. The views were amazing over lakes and there was a down slope to lunch which we reached after 4 hours walking, again to more soup and meat, rice, potato cooked in a tent (bowls of hot water to wash hands before eating too).
The afternoons trek was hard again as up to 4400m and became one step in front of the other will power trudge and took 2 hours to get to top (Matt and the horse had a lot of time together ;) It was a great feeling to reach the top, and the walk down was really nice towards the orange tents in the distance. Hot drinks and snack of popcorn while waiting for dinner.
That evening was really cold though as higher then before and constantly out of breath, frost even formed on the tents and we huddled in the food tent as long as possible before going to bed with 4 layers, hat, gloves etc etc.
