Well Penang turned out to be a little more eventful than imagined. The first day we spent visiting a Buddhist temple which was all round a good day. Got the local bus there and it turned out fine so we decided to go on a little local bus adventure the next day. We decided to go to a national park the other side of the island... took about 3 hours on two separate buses and in the end the bus driver was like "No dont go there its s*** go here instead" ... which turned out to be wicked coz we just got a local bus to a random village and just walked along the road which ran along the coast which was very scenic. We were supposed to climb up a big hill through the woods but I got 22 mosquito bites in about ten minutes and we saw a MASSIVE (practically dog sized) monitor lizard which made me run in the opposite direction. So after that little escapade we ditched the hill idea and scrambled through the bushes onto our own PRIVATE BEACH. Delightful. Matthew saw ANOTHER huge monitor lizard which he proceeded to chase.. and then spent the rest of the day muttering about wanting to be "a hunter gatherer" ..OR just chase things.
Unfortunately when we came to leave the bus didnt turn up and we thought we were going to get stranded but then a randon chinese man pulled up in his car and gave us a lift back which was lucky! The only strange thing was that he'd somehow got a cd of English children's nursery rhymes that he played in his car as normal music. It was very strange listening to the Okie Kokie, And then they all roll over and one fell out and heads, shoulders, knees and toes knees and toes. ODD!
We were staying in a bit of a dump .. but it was being run by two very nice Indian men that took an immediate liking to Willsy. At one point he was forced to take of his top so that they could take photos of his tattoo with there hands on his chest and hugging. Its was VERY strange. Photos on facebook soon!! The food in Penang was the best.. we ate Chinese food every day for all meals. Definitely the highlight. After a few days we took a luxurious bus to Kuala Lumpa to stay with my cousin. We had such a good time we didn't want to leave and everything seems so scummy in Bali after the luxury of her home. We had aircon, big duvets, hot showers, massive house, swimming pool, English food and Alfie the dog. Your all thinking "all those things are normal" im sure but it really felt like we were spoilt. Just having a dog that I was "allowed" to touch was the best!
After Donna's we got a flight to Bali and booked into a guesthouse while we waited for the others to arrive. We've had a few nights out already which have been eventful to say the least. We met a giant called Freddie who actually had a giant voice and danced in slow motion because big people just cant move that fast. Soph, Lucia and Rach have all been swimming in the sea at 5am already (Lucias been here one day haha). Kats done karaoke. Its been hilarious although they are all suffering abit because they didnt wait to get over their jetlag so they've all got colds and sore throats. The weather is HOT, Equatorial hot. We're going to have a few more days here and then move on to maybe Lombok and the Gilli Islands before coming back for some more nights out. Extra joss xxx
