After a tearful farewell to Whitney we headed for St Kilda in search of our hostel. It was probably the worst hostel we've stayed in and the most expensive as it was Grand Prix weekend. It had a horrible smell of feet throughout and it definately wasn't matt's this time.
The next day we went for a look around the city and decided to take a tour around the MCG. The tour was about 2 hours which was plenty of time for Jo! It's such a big place with loads of facilities including bars everywhere you look - unfortunately they weren't open! Later on we had a walk around Southbank which is full of restaurants and pubs along the riverside. This long walk took us to the Crown Casino where they had a Ferrari exhibition - next job: get a lottery ticket!
On the walk home all we could hear were the F1 cars in qualifying - you could hear them from miles around. This made up our minds to buy a ticket for race day. We had so much fun - there was stuff to do all day leading up to the race. F18 jet flyovers, celebrity racing, V8 cars etc etc. There were also loads of modded cars, tanks, helicopters and stunt bikers between the different races. We got a really good spot right next to the track (see videos). The cars were unbelievably loud - we stupidly said no to the earplug seller but it was worth it to lose our hearing for the day! We definatley want to go to more.
It had arrived - Neighbours day! It started with a star meeting which was Libby Kennedy who was really nice, she answered some of our questions and posed for pictures before the tour started. We were taken to Erinsborough High and then the studio before heading to Ramsey Street (all the place names are made up). Ramsey Street was tiny and we didn't get to walk up it although we watched them film a wedding scene and got a wave from Harold and Lou which was cool. On the way back we found out some gossip and watched Scott and Charlene's wedding.
In the evening we went to the Neighbours trivia night. Each week 3 different stars turn up. We had Toadie, Steph and Boyd, followed by Karl Kennedy's band (Waiting Room) which were really good. It was a brilliant night from what we can remember and met some cool Irish people. It was a great way to spend our last night in Oz.
We got up early on our last day nursing severe hangovers ready for our flight to New Zealand, which it turned out we weren't even booked on. We had to pay for someone elses mistake and it was raining. All in all not the best last day but we enjoyed Oz loads and sad to be leaving but really excited about getting to New Zealand.
