After leaving Tweed Heads we headed up the East coast a few hours to Noosa. Our hostel was really nice and after haggling the price, they gave us a good room with a cool open shower.
We had heard the sun rose over Sunshine Beach so our first morning we were up at 4:30am to catch the sunrise. Unfortunately it was stormy, typical for our first sunrise away, but we got some good pictures anyway. After a couple of hours more sleep we checked out the centre and main beach. We had been told of some good walking tracks within Noosa National Park, so we decided to take the coastal route which was about 6km. We spotted turtles from the clifftop and stingrays surfing on teh nudist beach...which by the way was dissapointing.
For our final day in Noosa we hired a kayak for the day. This took us around Noosa river and its estuaries where we were warned about the sharks and stingrays in the deeper areas. We had a picnic on a deserted beach (apart from the seagulls, crabs and pelicans). After lunch we stopped at another beach at the mouth of the river, the tide was on its way out towards the sea which created a rapid where you can jump in at one point and float down to the sea, this part was quite deep though, eek! The way back was against this current which was tiring but we made it!
