Returning from our dive trip, we spent a couple more days in Cairns. These were spent catching up on sleep and doing washing! It also gave us a chance to meet up with Carol n Ben and to go out with our flatmates Brett and Ruthy. The next day we were up early and got picked up for our tour to Cape Tribulation.
The tour started with a walk in the rainforest to Mossman Gorge where we swam in the fresh water...it was sooo cold but got rid of the hangover! Our guide then drove us to Daintree National Park where we took a river cruise in search of crocs. We found 3, all on land although one we couldn't really see, one was well camouflaged and the other was a 2 foot long baby. It was a bit dissapointing as an hour before the guide had spotted a 6 metre long male.
After lunch we stopped for pudding at the Daintree Icecream Company. They make all their icecream with the fruits they grow on site...yum yum! Our tour then took us to our accomodation in Cape Trib. It was nice but when we got there we were warned about the local Cassowary (looks like an Emu) as they have been known to attack...and peck people to death!
The next day we were picked up for our reef day trip on Odyssey H20. We had planned to do a couple of dives but Jo had an ear infection so we weren't able to - nice one Jo!hehe When we got out to the reef we were told it was only between 2 and 5 metres in depth so snorkeling was just as good. The visability under water was loads better than in Cairns and the sun even came out! We had a really good day and saw loads. We swam with a turtle for a few minutes until he tired us out! We came back to Cairns that evening and went out for a few drinks and a lack of conversation as 3 consecutive footy games were on - Matt has withdrawal symptoms!
We are off to the red centre tomorrow in search of some sun.
