Mary's Travels
I guess this day kinda overlaps with the last entry but oh well. We took off at 3am, stopped at 5am and realized how uncomfortable we were hahaha luckily the gas station had a photo op so we let off some steam there. Then we slept to the next stop- Burger King breakfast. Oh it was so good. Then we slept some more until 10:30, then broke out Maureen's license plate game. That kept us entertained till the next rest stop and we decided to make it a competition. We stopped later for lunch, our last meal in the US. Their special for the day was walking tacos with Doritos, and the workers had lovely northern accents. I also picked up an ice cream Milky Way bar that I haven't seen since France. From the border, we have 5 hours to the campsite. Whoo... We made it to the border, and it was all we ever dreamed of, minus our passports getting stamped. We had fun and took home all the brochures at the Manitoba welcome center. Then we hit the road again, this time sans Internet, so we had to rely on the old fashioned map. It was a two-way rugged road for the rest of the four hours. We stopped at a huge sunflower field. It was so beautiful, there was a lake below and tall pines in the distance. We kept our eyes peeled for bears, hoping to see one. We FINALLY made it to the campsite, which was AMAZING. We set up camp in a little neighborhood thing, but it got even better when we found a beach and town walking distance away. It was 10pm before it started to get dark, and we scrounged in the town for some food.
