First thing after leaving the site is to find fuel. The pumps at the garage in Abbenes won’t accept cards so we head toward Kaag only to find the garage in the sat nav is no longer there. We have to go in the opposite direction to our plans, all the way back into Lisse, to refuel.
By now we’ve abandoned the windmills and set off for Almere Haven. The motorways are busy and nearing journeys end there are lots of roadworks which throw the satnavs into meltdown.
Eventually we reach Almere Haven, a place we liked the look of before, but it doesn’t seem half as attractive as we remember.
We sit and rest for the afternoon, watching a pair of geese herding five goslings around.
Grete cooks ham hotpot and we mull over ideas for the next few days.
