We are up at 06:45 aided by another of the tooting idiots that have driven past late at night or early in the morning this week.
Check in is smooth, Douane has a cursory look inside the van and we queue to board Pont Aven. Just we are waved along another Douane steps out of a coach, right into our path the bangs on the side of the van telling us to be careful!
Onboard we go to the upper deck and after a couple texts we can pick out Michael and Chris waving their flag in the marina. It's bright and sunny as we sail out but soon gets choppy. By the time we finish breakfast the ship is rolling a fair bit and it's turned grey and cold, but Pont Aven is running at full speed. Half way things settle and we go outside an hour before arrival at Plymouth. A 'Type 45', a Dutch frigate and a submarine are all in the harbour and sailing boats are racing hard in the strong wind.
Disembarkation goes as normal, we pull into Saltash services for coffee and Ali pops over to the nearby supermarket. Our journey home is good apart from showers at Liskeard and we are indoors before 17:00.
The garden has been unattended for 10 weeks and is a mess, and 80% of the mail is junk, not least out of date electioneering leaflets.
A welcome home dinner of supermarket curry washed down with Guinness while watching the Canadian Grand Prix and then to bed and reflect on a remarkable tour.
