Drizzly start to the morning. N+G go to find a vet to look at the lesion on Cleo's paw, so we head into town to meet later.
Zafra appears to be a very friendly town, many locals seem to know each other and meet with kisses or handshakes.
The old part is charming; pebble patterned courtyards surrounded with old stone and brick arcades. Many houses still have the old style balcony windows, finely cast iron frames with finials and scrollwork. Storks sit in nests on steeples and chimneys and other small birds chirp away in the eaves.
There is a pharmacy with patterned ceramic tiles and another building tiled in turquoise. Oranges, geraniums and bougainvillea are all out and we know we are nearing warmer climes as there are palm courts and cactii too.
We meet N+G in the park and the news on Cleo is good; injection and some spray plus a trumpet collar to keep her from licking it. It's lunchtime so we find a cafe for coffee and paninni then wander around once more before returning to the vans via a quick detour into Dia supermarket.
The Nicks spend a bit of time fiddling with Mary*Lou's batteries, the leisures are not holding as much as they should. It turns out that the solar panel is charging fine, but no charge is getting back when running the engine so probably a faulty relay, but tiffin time came before we could investigate further.
Spent the evening with portable lights munching down Ali's spag-bol.
