So today, we arrived in Chitwan!! Chitwan National Park is the biggest animal reserve/park in Nepal, and is amazing :)
We woke up way too early - 6am - then got a taxi to the tourist bus park, where our bus was waiting. Our bags had to go on the roof as there was no space in the hold. The journey took about 5 hours, which wasn't too bad!! We only stopped once for a toilet break, but me and Liam stayed on the bus. When we got to Chitwan/Sauhara (the town) bus park, it took a while to find the hotel person to take us to Riverside Hotel, but it was all fine. We were the only two people in the van/truck. When we got to the hotel, I realised it is opposite somewhere I've stayed before, which is wierd!! We got our welcome drinks, and signed a few things, then got our schedule/timetable for the next few days.
We took our stuff up to our room, up on the third floor, then went back down to relax in the sun. It's so much hotter here, especially in direct sunlight at midday!!
Lunch, at 1.30, was mushroom soup, then chips and chow mein. A wierd mixture, but nice. I couldn't eat all of mine as I had been snacking a lot on the bus.
We showered and relaxed for a couple of hours, then at 3.30 we had a "short" nature walk/Tauru village tour/elephant stable visit. It took 2 hours. Not short at all!! But I've worked out that my favourite animal is the elephant!! Probably Indian over African though... One of the elephants at the stables was dancing to some music a Chinese was playing - Liam has a video!!
We had just under 2 hours to kill before the Tauru Culture Dance, so we put the tv on, and it was playing the last half hour or so of Titanic. I almost cried. Almost.
The dance was interesting... They have a new hall which looks like a theatre of some sorts. We sat down, and they performed several dances, all very skilled but repetitive... We walked back to the hotel for a noodle soup and steak supper - yum!! And now early bed as we have another silly early start tomorrow!!
