We have traveled up to Mcleod Ganj an old summer hill station near the Himalayas. It is also next to Dharamasala the home to the Dali Llamas exiled government to Tibet. This place is on the old hippy trail, but I have to say the place is mad, it is noisy, dirty and dangerous, all because it is a tiny place with taxis and motorcycles driving all over the place sounding their horns and taking no account of peoples safety. (I was hit several tomes by them). We saw our first monkeys who seem to live the monks, whose monastery was opposite our hotel. They are a noisy lot as well, saying their prays, blowing horns or shouting at all hours of the day and night. The town is full of westerners seeking meditation skills, or trying to find themselves, so their are courses for all these types of things.
Some of our group got right into it and now have piercings, tattoos and Indian type clothing? Myself and Jackie? we couldn't wait to leave, as all we saw was cheap tourist tat and no peace and tranquility. I think it is all a big con, can't wait for real stuff at mad Delhi! Our next stop.

Lynn Hi, unfortunately all of India is quite noisy, dirty and the people as you say have no regard for others, they just barge in never mind who's coming!!!! As for the incessant tooting well , what can I say!!! But i'm glad you have experienced it. Take care, love to you both. Are you going to see the Taj Mahal?
