How to spend a long weekend. Quad into the forest loaded up with fishing gear, an outboard, 3 blokes and a healthy supply of beer. We spend most of the day putting around the lake shore and pulling trout. By mid-afternoon we have a good number of fish and decide to head back to the lodge. Our convoy of 4x4's, dirt bikes, ATV's and off-road buggy is packed up and set to depart by midmorning. Arriving at la-dore we quickly find space in a cabin with Katy and her boyfriend which has established the rule of no kids and no dogs. With camp sorted we head off in two 4x4's to find a lake and get some fishing and drinking done.

I meet Emily's parents, Paul and Danielle before they head to work. Sophie (Emily's sister) has dropped off her two year old son Elliot and we spend the morning playing with him before meeting with one of Emily's friends and taking her dog for a walk along the river. Afterwards we visit Emily's 84 year old grandmother in the next town. That evening more of Emily's family arrive Katie and Mathew, Annie and Yuan Marcel and Nicole.

It's around 11am by the time we leave Emily's apartment and head into downtown Montreal for breakfast. We find a great little cafe and spend a couple of hours there. Emily has invited me to join her family at a fishing lodge for the coming Canada Day long weekend. I get a late start from the hostel and take breakfast at a small cafe around the corner. With the bike loaded up I head to the Ottawa Aviation Museum around 12. A few hours at the museum and I make my way to Montreal. The route I choose takes me along the northern (Quebec) shore of the St Lawrence River through farmlands. I arrive at my friend Emily's apartment in Montreal around 6. We spend the evening chatting and catching up until midnight.
