We have just got back from our 5 day cruise in the Galapagos Islands which was a great experience - apart from the sea sickness one day! Our boat would usually move from island to island during the night and our first night crossing was a particularly rough one. Apparently this time of year is the cool/dry season and the seas can be a little rougher, unfortunately we didn't have any sea sickness pills with us but another passenger gave us some so we were ok afterwards. Our boat was a fairly small one with 16 passengers althogether so the waves really got it rocking, it's hard to do anything when you're being tossed about, especially have a shower without falling through the curtain!
Sea sickness aside the islands were great (and the ground didn't move under your feet either!). We saw lots of wildlife, some of which are not found anywhere else in the world. They don't know of humans as preditors and we got really close to sealions, blue footed boobies, albatrosses, pelicans, marine iguanas and giant tortoises to name just a few. It would be possible to touch them but this is forbidden. We had plenty of oppourtunity to snorkle in the turquoise waters and we saw turtles, white tipped sharks and lots of other sea life. There were also some beautiful white sandy beaches for a spot of sunbathing amongst the sealions!
