We are now back in Argentina after getting the ferry from Uruguay, and have been spending some time in Buenos Aires. On our first day we went to La Boca, the area of the city that Boca Juniors (an Argentinan football club) are from. South America is football crazy and we have noticed that even in the smartest resturants, there are large TV screens which are showing replays if there is no live match. We have even seen groups of people standing outside looking in and watching matches. Here in the BA shopping district just about every other shop has displays of the blue and white Argentina shirts.
La Boca is one of the oldest areas of the city and there are many corrugated iron buildings which are painted bright colours. There are many market stalls and resturaunts where you can sit and watch people doing the Tango in the street. We finished our first tour and said goodbye to our group as we all went our separate ways.
We had a few more days in Buenos Aires so yesterday we met up with Arthur Leeks for lunch and walked through some of the city, it was nice to see a familiar face! Today we are having a bit of a relaxing day after being quite busy for the last while. Tomorrow we head to Quito, Ecuador and go to the Galapagos Islands on Monday.
