Hi all,
After I arrived in Phuket I got the mini-bus to the Royal crown hotel in Patong, where I had booked myself in for the following 2 weeks. Patong wasn't the relaxing, small town by the beach that I was expecting, infact it was similar to Bangkok without the hi-rise buildings. There were scooters going in all directions making it very difficult to cross the roads (The best way I found to cross the road is to walk slowly in a straight line and the scooters will avoid you). Taxi's continually asking you if you wanted a lift, and girls asking you if you want a massage.
I had to stay in Phuket for the 2 weeks that I'd booked myself into the hotel for as I didn't want to be paying for accommodation that I wasn't using. During my time on Phuket the weather wasn't great, (They don't call it the rainy season for nothing). With all the rain, there was a few days that the roads were all flooded under about knee high of water, but every few days when the weather was good I took myself off on a day trip to 1 of the surrounding islands. I went to the 'James Bond islands', 'Raya island' and Phi-Phi island'.
The James Bond islands was a canoe trip, were we canoed through different caves around the rock islands. Raya island was a snorkelling trip beside a beautful island, were I got badly sunburnt on my back. Phi-Phi island was another snorkelling trip. Phi-Phi island itself was amazing, it looked different from the other islands, and had a different feel. It was the paradise island that I'd expected all of the thailand islands to be like.
All things considered, I enjoyed my time spent in thailand, and it made an incredible year come to a perfect end, one that I won't want to forget. I'm finding it hard to believe that at this time tomorrow it'll all be over, and I'll be back at home. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again and I'd like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me over the past year.
Thank You
