The silence is scary. A perfect stillness not even a rustle under the perfect sky. The Milky Way dazzles above as sheer rock faces surround on every side. The occasional gentle snoring of my three compatriots the only reminder that life exists beyond me in this moment. And then the moon rose slowly above the desert and the illumination began.
I has forgotten how vast the Wadi was. Huge expanses like no other. We ride into the desert Lawrence aside a particularly smelly camel I have lovingly named EstherCamel as just like her namesake she has a complete inability to follow the slightest instruction. She also farts beltches and constantly tries to wipe her fly covered snotty nose upon me!
But we charge into the unknown landscape heading for out camping shouting "On to Aquaba!" All the way.
We arrive at the Bedouin camp in time for one of nearly 25cups of tea (yummy) before setting off on another desert adventure this time in old school 4WDs 6 people in each we hurtle past sand dunes, ruins and amazing rock formations. To my pleasure I have the ABBA mobile. 5 pupils all blazing in polyphonic chorus Thankyou For Music at the top of their lungs as it echoed of ally the rock crevasse! I may have even joined in :). Cheers Lottie, Esther, Callum, Alasdair and Sam:)
The night draws in once again. Song and dance happens around the camp and the party begins around a giant teapot.
Two days safe! Off to the Dead Sea!
