Even travellers get lonely
By oneself... The ups and downs of travellers moving on.
It is interesting travelling alone. There are things I absolutely love about it. I love turning up at a hostel and meeting new people. Some you click with, other you don't. If you click to hang out, look for each other at breakfast, the bar and do cool things. This trip that was April, Nora and Andehui in Turkey and Martin, Kevin and Neil and Anne Marie in Kyrgyzstan.
You also have the ability to do as you wish. The pace is sedate. Tomorrow I'm going scuba diving off the coast and nobody cares. I got a funky Arabic Henna tattoo and spent a whole afternoon strolling round the artisans until I found the one I liked most.
However the are draw backs. As you hit little places like sozopol you want people to hang out with to go for dinner, share a bottle of wine hit some late night jazz. You find the most awesome beer spot ever but you would rather take someone than tell Facebook about it.
12 travelling years later having worked my way through many companions begin to wonder, is it time to pause, to find someone to travel the rest of my life with rather than 40counties later and a full passport having done it all myself?
So enough of this mushy crap!
I raise my glass to you all (a good glass of Thracian wine) drunk by Churchill before me and Alexander the Great. 200 countries to go! As the tattoo says "life is a journey"
