The bed was great, despite Santiago being hot during the day it was cool enough at night to have blankets on the bed to snuggle into. We got up as late as possible without missing out on the much advertised free two course breakfast.
After buying some warm clothes for the far south, we could concentrated on the sights like proper tourists. After the nice Armas square and cathedral we headed to a small hill in the middle of the city. Somehow we missed that one and started walking up the much larger San Cristobal. It was a hot day but we decided to avoid the funicular. It turned out to be a lovely but long walk up a very slightly inclined road.
The top had a massive virgin Mary statue, church and a prayer area however the main reason to come up was for the views. Santiago is susposed to have the nicest aspect of all the South American cities due to it's proximity to the high Andes just behind. Today however didn't have good visibilty but we had very good views of South Americas sixth largest city instead.
We took the funicular down and walked over to the Indian restaurant which turned out to be closed - doh. We both really enjoyed the day.
The evening consisted of a bottle of smirnoff, Ruth from Ireland and a strong Father Ted thyme.
