After the mornings nuptials of discussing how we slept through the strong winds we were told that it was now too strong to sail in. We motored towards Tobacco Caye with a snorkelling lunch spot slotted in.
Tobacco Caye was a lot bigger but still somewhere you could walk across in a few minutes. This made it big enough to have places to stay so after being given a very simple hut on stilts we had a look round.
This is serious read book in a hamock place. In fact within a few minutes of getting here the crew were asked to turn off the music on the boat. Tobacco Caye is not pretty, no real beach and tatty above what was caused by the hurricane.
Every so often you would hear the thud of a coco nut dropping close by. I was walking to the hut when 'coco nuts' came into my head. I stopped just short of a palm tree and then reversed a step. A large coco nut fell to earth two steps in front of me. Coco nuts falling to earth are big killers in these parts.
The rest of the day was spent opening coco nuts and then playing various card drinking games.

Pankaj Hey:My hubby & I also honeymooned on Ambergris Caye in 2004. I've been worerid sick about our beautiful heaven on earth. I pray that God will keep the locals and tourists safe as they start to clean up from such a horrible storm.
