The day of the sailing/snorkelling trip down through the islands. The usual fun and games: Liz was not feeling that good after last night and I discovered I had lost my credit card. Luckily I got it back pretty much straight away. The ATM here gives your card back last and only if you say you want it back. Basically the ATM kept the card from the last time I used it.
We set off on the Ragamuffin sailing trip with two couples from Holland, a couple from Canada, an American and another Brit. The weather was good for sun bathers, gazing out on glassy seas and chating but not windy enough for sailing.
After lunch and a snorkelling stop, the first lot of Rum punch was made in a 5 gallon water container with some incipid strawberry cordial. I however avoided this favouring Rum and Coke instead.
By the time we got to Rendezvous Island I was in a merry mood. The island had a jetty, three palm trees and a simple thatched dwelling no bigger than a small tent that housed the only island occupant. However it was only his very eager dog that came out to greet us after swimming ashore.
The group after touring the island (it is only about 30ft by 40ft) joined me in the shallow water. By this time I had swam back to the boat to get some more drinks. Swimming back with a drink in both hands was the tricky bit.
The dog amazed at having someone around to give him fuss but then seeing everyone in the water decided to go water bound. It was funny enough until the dog reached you, then you found yourself scratched to death.
Despite a calm day the failing light brought with it a powerful wind that damped the enthusism a bit.
At least we could sail tomorrow!
