The wind was the excuse for not visiting South Water Caye on the way to Plaencia. This was a shame as it was the place that I wanted to see the most.
The wind did drop enough to get one of the sails out but not powerful enough to stop the motor. The sail was ancient and patched up so many times it looked like a quilt. They also used the excuse that the wind was coming from the wrong direction - obviously didn't want to do what other boats have been doing for centuries and tack. I don't believe that it would ever be the right conditions to sail. I was not really that bothered about sailing as I have done lots before, it was the false pretenses that niggled me.
We got into a very overcast Plaencia, with the welcome to paradise greeting from a local. Despite the overcast skies the place is very nice with a wide white sand beach and well kept surroundings. We found a lovely beach cabin with hamock and TV.
One more duty we have to say goodbye to the rest of the shipmates before they went off. Didn't stay long as we were knackered though.
