Up early had a reasonable sleep considering it felt like 100 degrees in our room last night!! American breakfast for Mark, waffle for me, yes i know got my countries mixed up I should be having American pancakes not Belgian waffles! lol. Now our tummies are full it time to go exploring, caught the famous cable car outside the hotel down to Fishermans wharf. Mark thought after 10wks of no exercise and over eating that we could bike 50kms!! Goodness help me, I might need recusitated i'll let you know. We hired a couple of bikes ready to bike over the bridge, in fact we decided to have a guided tour to Sausalito, along with four others off we set in the 35 degree heat with lots of history info and photo stops along the way and to let the slowest person catch up, which surprisingly was not either of us. Over the mighty bridge with a stop half way to admire the views. We arrived at the beautiful Sausalito where we were then left to our own devices so we decided to head up to Mill Valley to see the famous Californian redwood trees, not realising it was probably a bit further than we thought, had lunch at a traditional diner at Mill Valley with a lovely man the owner of the diner, who came and sat and ate with us, our cups were bottomless as he just kept filling them up with root beer and we were gladly sculling them back as it must have been getting up in to the high 30's we were both already burnt. Now that we were refuelled we were set for the rest of our journey it was about a mile to the mighty redwood trees, which were spectacular to see, then we decided to carry on to Tiburon to catch the ferry back to San Francisco, but were the roads had been fairly flat we were now doing a bit of climbing up hills!! It was about 30-35kms to Tiburon very pretty ride very scenic, but must admit was over biking by the time we got to Tiburon. Caught the ferry back to San Fran, saw Alcatraz from the water, after dropping the bikes back off at Fisherman's Wharf caught the bus back to union square and to the hotel, shower and change and then we decided to head back to Fisherman's wharf for dinner, got a recommendation of a good restuarant, but it must be very good because there was a 45min wait for a table, too long for us so we went else where and had a nice meal, got a limo back to hotel for the same price as a cab! Go figure! I think we will both sleep very well tonight!! p.s. Happy birthday Dad, miss you xxx
