We survived! Arrived in Heathrow after the 13 hour flight from Singapore. Its so cold and rainy here... wish we were back in the sunshine already!

Kuala Lumpur is busy, noisy, smelly and dirty, but still a great city. Visited many beautiful cultural buildings, including the National Museum and Islamic Arts Museum. Went up 282m to the revolving restaurant in the KL Tower, where we had tea, cake and a great view. Walked across the walkway between the Petronas Twin Towers (2nd tallest skyscraper in the world). Eaten amazing meals from the Arabic, Chinese and Indian cultures.

Singapore is extremely busy and lively, but also supprisingly clean. Went to Orchard Road, the main shopping street, which is filled with dozens of huge malls. Walked to Fort Canning, the Botanical Gardens and the National Orchid Gardens. Also visited Chinatown, Little India and Arab Street. Delicious food everwhere in Singapore. Unfortunately the Fountain of Wealth (worlds largest fountain) was closed for refurbishment the day we arrived in Singapore.

Three nights at Ayers Rock Resort - a luxury complex in the middle of the desert, 20km from the Rock. Definately the most expensive place to stay in Australia! Saw the amazing sunrise at the foot of the Rock, which glows bright orange. Completed the 9km hike around the base before the midday heat. On the second day we visited the Olgas - a mountain range 50km from Ayers Rock. Hiked through the steep gorges around one of the mountains. Incredible views that were e...

Took the senic railway from Cairns up into the mountain town of Kuranda. The track went along steep gorges and past many waterfalls. Amazing views of Carins and the bay in the distance. In Kuranda we walked through the rainforests and along the river. Went to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, where we saw hundreds of huge butterflies including the famous bright blue Uylsses. Visited the markets and craft shops, where Tora bought a beautiful Australia Opal.
