We woke to a cloudy day after very little sleep as the hostel was so noisy! Needless to say, we didn't get going until late!
We made our way to Cape Otway where there is a lighthouse. On the way we stopped to see lots of wild Koalas along the road (in the trees). We even got to hear them calling to each other which was very odd sounding! You had to pay to see the lighthouse so instead we cheated and walked along a track to see it, just from further away! We stopped for yet more, and bigger Koalas on the way back.
From there we continued inland a bit before the road followed the coast again. The twelve apostles (stacks) are spread over a few hundred metres in the sea. We could see the start of them from the Gibson steps. We braved the hundreds of steep steps down to the beach for a better view. It was a beautiful beach and we paddled in the sea! Mark didn't leave his pumps far enough away from the water and we only just managed to catch them before they got washed out to sea!!
Just down the road there was a walkway down to see more of the apostles. The view was very impressive and we were beginning to believe that perhaps the great ocean road is an beautiful one, unlike what we thought yesterday! The sun had also made an appearance which obviously made a big difference!
We stopped in Port Campbell for some lunch and then just further along at the arch and the London bridge rock formations (see pics!).
Again we stopped at many lookouts for photos and it turned out to be a lovely sunny afternoon. Warrnambool was the destination for dinner and a walk around the lady bay after to see the beaches.
Our bed for the night was in Port Fairy which is a small town by a river. A much nicer hostel than last night! We went out for a mooch and walked along the river eye-ing up the boats!
We were in bed by 9pm as we were shattered from the lack of sleep last night!
