Mark & Robyn's Travels
Time to travel back to Dallas. We decided to have room service and ordered it the night before asking it be delivered at 8 am. Promptly at 8 am there was a knock at he door and room service was there with a hot breakfast. This is a great hotel. It is, of course, expensive, but well worth the price.
We had no problems getting back to Heathrow and getting our luggage checked. I got through security with out any problem however Robyn was stopped because security kept detecting liquids in her bag. This was a carry-on bag containing souvenirs, and everything had to be taken out and unwrapped and inside of a glass was a small bottle of Schnapps Robyn had bought at the Munich airport. All that trouble for an airline-size bottle of liquor. Other than that there were no more incidents. The flight was fine and the video system worked. While we were in Europe I received an email from American apologizing for the lack of video on the flight over and they gave both of us 10,000 miles as compensation. We will be using those for our return in 2016.
Everything was fine until we got back to Dallas. I thought we were going to get through immigration with no trouble because of the new kiosks for US citizens. However, when we printed out our document there was an X across it meaning we had to get in another line to see an actual immigration officer. It seemed like two-thirds of the US citizens were sent to this alternate line which took nearly an hour to get through. In the meantime all foreign nationals were flying through the lines. It took us nearly an hour and a half to finally exit border control and get out of the airport. Oh well, not everything can be perfect.
Overall, it was a great trip and we had a wonderful time. We are ready to start planning for the next trip in May/June of 2016.
