We flew to Paris from Munich on Air France which just like the BA flight out of London was efficient and fast; we left on time and arrived early. I want to make a suggestion for anyone flying to and from Munich-- take the Lufthansa Airport Bus to Munich. Anyone can take it and it only costs Euro 10.50 per person and it drops off and picks up at the Hauptbanhof. (Just FYI- Robyn was able to book a round-trip airfare cheaper than a one-way fare, so we simply will not be using the return flight. Go figure.)
Our ride in from Charles de'Gaulle was a bit wild but very fast. Since it was Sunday the traffic was not bad at all. Our driver took us by the Arc de Triomphe and Robyn was able to get a really good picture.
Our hotel is the Duquesne Eiffel (23 avenue Duquesne, 75007) and is just four blocks from the Eiffel Tower and we have a pretty spectacular view from the balcony. (We are actually in the first of two rooms. We will be switching rooms for an even better view later.) This is the smallest hotel room we have had on the trip, but still very nice. Just not much room for our massive supply of luggage.
After we got settled in we only had time to walk over to the Musee de L'Armee which has Napoleon's tomb. We had time to go through one exhibit on arms used in the Middle Ages which was very cool. The Idiot Tourist did not realize his picture was being taken while looking at armor that was attributed to both Henry II and Henry III of France. Quick connection to what we viewed last week in London. Henry II was the father-in-law of Mary Queen of Scots since she had married his son Francis when they were 15 and 16. Henry II actually cared very much for Mary and she probably could have remained in France except that Henry was killed in a jousting tournament. Francis was coronated as Francis II but died several months later of a middle ear infection. Within a few months of his death Mary was forced to go back to Scotland by her former mother-in-law Catherine de Medici.
Before the museum closed we quickly went over to view Napoleon's tomb but could not see much as they were telling everyone to leave.
We walked over to the famous "shopping area" on Rue Cler where there are lots of cute cafes and shops. We ate at a cafe that had the best French onion soup EVER! We ended up eating there twice.

Debby Oh goody, you made it to Paris, don't forget to go to Sacre Coeur, my favorite place in Paris besides the Musee' d Orsey. The Moulin Rouge is at the bottom of the hill coming down from Sacre Coeur. Watch for the pickpockets, they are everywhere in Paris. Can't wait to hear about the idiot tourist in Paris. I have that same pic of Napoleon's tomb. In fact, when Liz and I took Ma to Paris in 2002, we were coming out of there and Ma struck up a conversation with a woman and Ma asked her where she was from and she said Dallas, she lived at Campbell Rd. and Frankford. Go figure. Have fun in the City of Light. I'm jealous!!!
Jhon If the Idiot Tourist had moved a few steps in front of the hedge/bush/plant thingy, and his wife had famed it correctly, the Idiot Tourist could've looked like a Conehead instead of an idiot.
