The last few days have felt like an episode of Lost. I think this is in part due to the fact we're still getting back to full fitness after the Thai tornado that swept through our body and the fact that in Koh Phangan randomness is the norm (is that chaos theory?). This can been beautifully summed up with a couple of recent nights out to 'The Jam' and 'The Pirate Party'.
The Jam is a music bar that has open mic nights and actively encourages all musicians to get up and jam with the others. It's less Jools Holland and more junior school band, but that said there are definitely some great musicians and singers that pass through from all over the world.
The ensemble the night we went was pure genius. Two or three of them look like they'd been swept up on the shore after last remembering seeing Jimi Hendrix at Woodstock (at one point I think the collective age of the group playing was over 1000 and looked like the Stones' parents were on a world tour). The instruments on show were even more impressive with a piccolo, didgeridoo and a healthy selection of bongo drums. At times it sounded like an exorcism - but still highly entertaining.
The Pirate Party is a bar/club situated on the beach with a dance floor area literally on the sand. The setting is gorgeous as is the lighting with neon and fire all around. The music was all a bit repetitive but Isobel and Lisa like it so I persevered.
Finally I have to make comment on Isobel's recent purchase of a skirt/trouser thing which closely resemble MC Hammer pants - highly amusing to see them in full flow. Lets hope she doesn't go the same way as him and find religion although The Reverend Bathgate does have a nice ring to it!

Lisa Sharpe Beautifully written Mark - but we have spoken about the repetitive thing and you know you love it really! Absolutely fab to have been able to spend time with you both on this magical island.
