Yesterday was so nice to discover we had this big family room for the 5 girls that we were with. We had 7 beds to all the choice. The two germans sticked together all the time, so they took two beds in the same room, the French girl joined them and Lily, the girl from Kenia took a bed in a little room next to them. I could choose between the big parents bed, apart from the rest, or one of the beds in the other rooms. I took the big bed, not only because I needed some privacy but because I like sleeping in big beds ;)
We had to get up early because breakfast was ready at 5.30 and an hour later we had to leave already! Brrr, well it's for the good cause so everyone was ready in time and we left our motel at the Lakes Entrance. First to two lookouts, which weren't really spectacular, but maybe that's also due to a lack of sleep. ;)
A nap later and some coffee in our break during the ride, I felt much more human and was ready to explore the walk in Wilsons promotory, I have been reading about this place in my Lonely Planet too and it seems amazing. And yes, it was amazing! The clouds slowly left the sky and we got a hot and sunny day, perfect for a stroll through the nature and to smell the summer around you.
It's a pity we did this walk in a group, because now we had limited time. I love taking my time, to make enough pictures, to look around me and to walk where ever I want to go. Now we waisted valuable time because some of our group though we had to wait for our guide. i was sure she'd go back to the bus and park the bus somewhere else, but well, who am I to think that on my own, when everyone else thinks something else? Well should have been more clear maybe, but I didn't feel like doing it back then.
Ah well, it's onty a few days and we got to hear a lot of information. I wish my head would soak it all up but that's too much I'm afraid. ;) We didn't have time to really enjoy the beach, but it was a little paradise to me. I just love the beach, to stroll along the sea, to smell the ocean, collect some shells and feel free somehow. I am a lucky b****** to be here, in the sun in january, while at home it's cold and winter. This is something I realise even more on places like this, heaven in a national parc. We had to go to the bus though, as there was a certain city waiting called Melbourne.
But, no Melbourne before another little walk later. It's ridiculous how happy I was to have seen some kangaroos out there, and this time not hand feed ones, but normal ones, who were being lazy in the shade and some of them eating a bit. It is amazing, one of my missions in Australia, seeing kangaroos can be ticked off now. :))) It was cool till how far we could approach them, they all had eartags or some other sign to show they're part of a research project. If I remember it correct, they try to find out how they live in a group and if they move to other groups too. We also saw some emu's, hope I write that correct.
With the Aussie wildlife pics on the memorycards it was finally time to head for Melbourne. It makes you sleepy, sitting in a bus for hours with the sun on the roof. I tried to focus on writing in my travelbook and spelling my lonely planet about Melbourne, but couldn't help it that I fell half asleep too. But the scenery ooutside is so nice, fields that are red and brown and green, hills and trees. Even here I love sticking my nose against a window, well not literally but you got it haha!
How exciting to see Melbourne appear at the horizon, and even more exciting to finally drive through the city. My dropoff was one of the last ones and I was very glad to be in the hostel. There was a bit of troubles with my booking, with a result that I am now in a 4 share dorm, but on my own. I don't mind a private room for tonight, it feels good to have a bit of privacy after sharing everything all the time. I didn't come here for the room though so I dumped my bags, changed clothes and ran off immediately. Time to explore the city, at least a little bit before it was too dark. I got a map at the reception of the hostel and took off. I found a cheap sushi place so I enjoyed some sushi while walking around. I feel good here in Melbourne. I can't describe what it is, but it's buzzzing here and I love the feeling so far that Melbourne gives me.
I walked around in the center a bit, till my legs thought it was enough for today. Now back at the hostel to tell you all about my day so far. Now the question is, to take a drink in the bar or not? Maybe it's better to find a nice place in town, although i am very tired... hmmm hard choices tonight. ^^
