Endless rain...lots of moldy atmospheric art deco buildings being overtaken by banyan trees. Moved hotels to Bandra where Mumbai's yuppies/hipsters hang out, via a epic taxi ride in the midst of a full-on monsoon storm.
Saw my first official Bollywood film last night called Ugli Aur Pagli, but didn't have the stamina for all 3 hours of it, so I couldn't tell you how it ended.
The rain was motivation to visit the Prince of Wales museum, the principal museum of the city. Gorgeous sculptures, miniature paintings, ancient coins, Buddhas and Vishnus. Some assyrian reliefs from 600 b.c. with cuneiform. Wow. The place was rather down at the heels though, with hot air, humidity, etc. so I worried for the art.
Indians have a thing for old-school ledgers. Although I've been here only a few days, I've already filled out a dozen lines in various ledgers. There usually at least 5 columns to fill out and/or sign.
Also, apparently the Tata company owns the entire country. They're the ones making the famous/infamous new Tata Nano car.
Signing off for now...
