The next part of the adventure is complete, the entering of the USA!!!
So I had reservations about entering the USA and what would happen at customs as I couldn't really prove when I would be leaving, I had images of little rooms and rubber gloves! The grilling had started in Iceland before I had even checked in, they wanted to know where I was staying and what I was doing in the USA and this was still in Iceland, what would it be like in the US???!!
So icelandair do not provide food, little did I know, and the prices to buy food were worse than being in Iceland, so I decided to sleep as much as I could or read. The girl next to me on the flight was from Vancouver Island and she drew me a map of Canada and where I should visit which was great!
So the time difference is 8 hours behind the UK, so I was starting to feel the affects of no sleep. I arrive at customs with all my paper work, ready to be carted off for hours of questioning and the lady just asked me what I was doing, I told her about my travels, she was mega impressed and then stamped my passport!!!!! 5 minutes and I was let in without any questions, result!
So I left Iceland and it was freezing, terrible wind and moody skies. I arrive in Seattle to blazing sunshine, again I am not dressed correctly and its like the London underground experience all over again!
I get the light rail train to downtown Seattle and then find the bus I need to get me to Freemont where my hostel is. Alas the bus does not give change as it's a weird machine you have to feed your money into but the bus driver was so nice he just let me on for free!!!
Once at the hostel I just crash and burn!
The next day I went for a wander around Seattle, (after getting the correct change for the bus) and start at the Pike Market Place, its crazy, busy and beautiful. There chuck the fish around singing and getting everyone involved. I wander along the seadfront and then head to the tallest building in Seattle to go and do the skyview, its amazing. Surrounded my mountains and sea!
In the evening I went and bought a ticket to watch baseball and the guys sat next to me gave me a lesson in the rules and what was going on. The stadium was packed and it was a great atmosphere. The next thing I need to find is a football game!
The next day I went on a free walking tour around Seattle and learnt the history of how it came into place and got to sample loads of nice food as well. I met 2 lovely ladies from Australia who then adopted me for the day. We got mac and cheese and went back to the truffel shop where they let us put truffel oil on our mac and cheese and eat it there while we took part in some wine tasting.
In the evening we headed up high to Kerry Park with wine and a picnic and watched the sun set over Seattle, best views ever and it was free, great way to end the night.
Seattle is an amazing place and would love to come back, but need to book well in advance in the summer as it's crazy busy. I wanted to Island hop to Vancouver but everywhere was fully booked so just taking the greyhound straight there instead, which isn't such a bad thing as I now have 4 nights in Vancouver to discover that place and already have some pretty amazing things lined up ready for you to read in my next blog.
