Ahhhhh Darwin where I got my first goon experience! My first week here I spent in a hostel called Maleluca where Marcy was staying too, a massive party hostel though I didn't do much partying, more eating. We decided to treat ourselves to a meal out at Outback Jacks which is a steakhouse chain and had crocodile (tasted like chicken) and kangaroo, yum!
I was pretty productive and managed to bag an interview for a receptionist job at a hostel called Dingo Moon Lodge and got it! The owner was a bit of a nut job, telling me he acted in Mr Bean and danced on the west end, bearing in mind this bloke is probably about 30 stone!
I loved working in Dingos despite all the s*** I got from the creepy owner, because of all the people I met! We could drink at the hostel and one of the lads had speakers so there were some messy times especially when the goon came out, my god! I have never experienced a drunken state like it! Goon is basically just wine in a box, $11 for 2 litres so I got a bit excited and drank the lot (sorry mum). Well woke up with no memory and a lovely big cut on my leg, never again...well until next time!
The Irish lads were driving to Litchfield National Park just outside Darwin so me and some of the girls went with them. I was hungover of course but the waterfalls were the best hangover cure ever, absolutely stunning place (see picture) and it was good to go with a good bunch of people!
I also did a jumping croc tour during my time here which was crazy, I got to hold a massive snake which was scary, but fun. Watching the crocs flying out of the water was unreal and funny at the same time with their little arms by their side haha! You would not want to be swimming in that river!
It was 2 days before leaving for the east coast so went out with some people I had met in a different hostel and ended up getting in at 730 am which meant I had ridiculous hangover anxiety so to get rid of this I then start to drink at lunch time. Went back for an hour to pack and back out. I then continued to drink until 230am which was prob not the best idea as I was getting picked up for my flight at 4 am!! I vaguely remember speaking to my parents at the airport and pretty much collapsing on the plane!
I really loved my time in Darwin, not masses amounts of stuff to do but the people I met meant I was constantly laughing and having a good time! I'm really going to miss them all! Now for the east coast where I have loads of tours booked so maybe my blogs will start getting a bit more interesting, wish me luck!
