Back in Cairo. Survived yet another overnight train ride with almost no sleep. Just 1 1/2 days left in Egypt. Looking forward to veturing onto new soil... Jordan is next for us! Just wanted to share a few more funny experiences we've had along the way...
One local we encountered kissed each bank note we gave him as payment for a tour. This was totally digusting in our minds as the money here is just filthy! It's like kissing the bathroom floor!
While awaiting to get into a tomb at the Valley of the Kings, Brad mentioned that we should take another go at the amazing tomb we just entered (to get a better look) instead of venturing into a new one (that we heard wasn't as good). An Aussie tourist in line ahead of us heard this & joking said, "That's a real Aussie thing to do!", & then realized that this tomb we were all now entering looked familiar as he just saw it! We all doubled over with laughter.
We've put a new spin on the "Where's Waldo" game.... now it's "Where's a car without dents in it?". Funny thing is, we just saw our first one today & it was our taxi. It was swanky new red car... fitted with seatbelts, plastic seat coverings & white plastic protective wrap on the hood, trunk & roof of the car. What a look! However, our driver had a bit of road rage so that made for an interestng journey. Made it safely back so no worries there. The bazaar was really something... we felt like mice trapped in a winding maze that seemed to keep stretching out for blocks & blocks... but we didn't get lost did we Maria?! The spice markets made us sneeze so we tried to get through them quickly but stopped for yes, a few good photos.
Maria is counting down the minutes telling me it's time to wrap things up as we've been here at the internet cafe for a good 1 1/2 hrs as we keep on losing the blog entries each time we write them. Fingers crossed hoping this time it'll work! Bye from Egypt!
