One of our best dinners in Siem Reap's downtown was Khmer style BBQ. Typically, they give you a variety of meats, vegetables, rice, and noodles. The best way I can describe it is that it is a combination of Shabu-Shabu and classic Korean-style grilling.
We had five meats with our set meal (only $8.25 for 2pax): Beef, Snake, Crocodile, Prawns, and Frog Legs. We honestly have to say that the frog legs were best! It really did taste just like chicken. The beef was poor quality, due to all the cows being very skinny. The snake was incredibly tough and chewy. The crocodile was good, especially when dipped in the spicy red pepper sauce. The prawns weren't anything special, I think Kenny and I ate too many prawns in Korea!
We had to cook each meat individually on the grill while the veggies and pasta cooked in a broth around it. Of course, we asked the waiter everytime when we thought it was done. I definitely didn't want to get sick!
The whole thing reminded us of Korea, and we reminisced over dinner about all our friends back there and what they were all doing. So if any of our friends in Korea are reading this, we're thinking of you! :)
