So having finished our time in Sumatra, we hopped on a plane to the KL to spend yet another night in the airport; and, for a second time, they just so happened to be bug-bombing the Air Asia Departures Terminal. So, Margaret and I spent the night running from gate to gate trying to avoid the noxious gas (nothing was sealed off) before finally deciding to sleep outside on the bus benches like homeless people. Finally, after a sleepless night, we grumpily boarded the plane to Siem Reap!
As our plane began its early morning descent into Cambodia, we the terrain was completely covered in water. Siem Reap was entirely flooded! We waded through town that day, and managed to enjoy the city. It's very charming, with pleasant French colonial architecture and great restaurants (though its very touristy). Luckily, by the next day, the flooding went down significantly and we were able to spend 3 days biking through the magnificent temples of Angkor Wat! Nothing I can say in this blog can truly describe their greatness, and pictures don't do them justice either. They are truly incredible pieces of art and history. Anyway, next stop overland into Laos!
