Namaste
We left our hotel this morning and walked up the dusty road towards where the market starts, dodging a couple of cows, a monkey and a peacock on the way!!!!
The narrow streets are lined either side by shops selling every clothing item and handicraft you could imagine, there are also people selling marajuana by the roadside too. We snaked our way through the town heading for the Brahma temple about a 40 minute walk away. When we got there only Mel could go in as I had to stay and watch the bags as no bags were allowed in and you could leave them at the roadside although ours had our passports in, so not a chance there.
Mel wasn't gone long and while I waited I got offered drugs 3 times and numerous toys, it is crazy that you can smoke pot but not get a beer!!! Mel came back with not much to report except she saw a guy peeing in the temple!!!
From here we made our way to the ghats where people wash and bathe, you had to leave your shoes 30m from the lake and could not take any photographs at all, there were pushy people trying to give you flowers to drop in the lake then they want money off you when you accept. Some of Gandhis ashes were scattered here so it is very holy, hence no meat or eggs or beer.
This pretty much concluded our day in Pushkar as we are holding back on shopping till we get to South India when we will throw clothes to make room for things!!!!
Spent the rest of the afternoon round by the pool, I say round it because I managed 2 lengths as it was ice cold and everyone who went in after me soon got back out.
Tomorrow we head for Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan where we will spend 2 days before moving to Agra to see the Taj Mahal.
Lots of Love
M & M
