Namaste
Yesterday was the most bizarre day I think we have had in a long time, and also pretty pointless.
We boarded our bus (oven on wheels) which would take us around some of the sights in North Goa and also 3 of the beaches. It just worked out that we were the only western people on the bus and everyone else was Indian so all the guides commentary was in Hindi. One thing you must know about Hindi is that it is about 40% English mixed in and this is the only thing that helped us through the day the morning consisted of a visit to Aguada Fort, a temple and Mayem Lake.
Back on the bus we caught the words for lunch and guessed that because it was nearly 3pm it had to be time to eat!!!
After lunch it was time to visit 3 of North Goa's beaches and the first was Vagator. They allowed us 35 minutes here before we got back on the bus and headed to Anjuna beach where the tide was in, so we didn't even get off the bus!!!!!
On the way to our last beach at Calangute (2nd longest beach in India) they made a stop at the wine and cashew nut shop, where you could buy your cashew nuts and get a permit, it was like they were contraband or highly illegal. We did get cheered up by a sign that read "DO NOT URINATE HERE" with a picture of a stick man!!!!
Calangute beach was a disappointment with about 5000 people on it and rubbish everywhere with men peeing on top of the rubbish and by 6pm we had seen enough of the Goan beaches and were ready to get off the oven on wheels.
The day did get better when we stumbled across a Domino's pizza restaurant which cheered us both up immensely (we are easily pleased!!!)
Today we have spent the morning looking around Panjim and have sorted out our evening which will be aboard a boat having our dinner. Tomorow we take the bus to Colva a small fishing village one hour south of here.
Lots of Love
