OK Guys time for the next update we left Denver yesterday morning to head for Glenwood Springs its around 150 miles from Denver and famous for its natural springs. We had a 6 hour journey but were looking forward to it as this is rated as one of the best train journey's in the world. The first place we hit was Coal Creek Canyon the train just cut through with steep walls on both sides we then went through Moffat Tunnel this was 6.2 miles long and took round 15 minutes to get through. By this time we were over 9,000ft above sea level and the highest track in North America!!! We passed through several other canyons including Fraser,Byers,Red,Gore and finally the breathtaking Glenwood Canyon with 1,500ft high sides, the railway was a great feat of engineering when built in the late 1890's. Arrived in Glenwood and wasted no time we dumped our packs and headed for the Vapour Caves and natural underground steam bath the hot mineral waters reach a 125 degree Fahrenheit they were first used by the Ute Indians for their healing properties. It is like a natural sauna but cooler as you are underground in the dark with all the water bubbling. Today we hiked the Pioneer Trail to visit the site of the famous Gunslinger come Dentist 'Doc Holliday' after all the strenuous exercise we decided to pay the famous hot springs a visit, they were so relaxing they are heated naturally by the earth and you can sit in there its like sitting in a very warm bath that bubbles occasionally!!!! It has been so relaxing and good for us we head off tomorrow afternoon for Reno the mini Las Vegas its only 20 hours on the train so an overnighter again!!!! Nothing else to report at the minute,so keep on posting Love M & M
