COLD COLD COLD is now the only adjective we are using to describe China. This place is sooooooo cold and partly because everybody keeps all the doors and windows open on everything. (Mum, Mel and I have decided that you and Geoff must have been Chinese in a past life!!!!)
Today after a needed lie in it was back to the Bus Station to catch the bus for what we thought was a 30 minute/20 mile journey. It turned out to be nearly 2 hours on the 2nd coldest bus we had been on as the coldest was to come on the way home!!!!
The rain had started but only as a drizzle but that created a mist as well, luckily once in HuangLoungXi we got to walk around the old streets here that are very narrow and there are several that date back to the Qing Dynasty as well. The place is most famous for being used for the martial arts movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and even on a wet day it's beauty shone through.
We took a walk by the river and I had a rooster made from toffee which was really good to watch it being made and it was tasty.
Before we knew it we had to board the coldest bus in China for the 2 1/4 hour back to Chengdu, the windows were open and there was a force 10 gale blowing through the bus you just can not get warm here even in the buildings!!!!
To top this my trainers sprang a leak and soaked my foot through and we could not get a taxi to take us back to the hostel and ended up walking the 5km in the drizzle. Needless to say today has not really been a highlight of our trip but it still beats working!!!!
Tomorrow evening we catch the overnight train to Xi'an the home of the Terracotta Warriors so should be there Sunday lunchtime (local time) so will update you from there.
Lots of Love
