On our last day in Memphis we went to Graceland!
Elvis bought the 500 acre farm and mansion in 1957 for $100,000. He lived at Graceland until his death in 1977 and he is buried there still with his Mother, Father and Grandmother, there's also a plaque for his brother. He was moved to Graceland for security reasons, after being buried at a local cemetary with his Mother. The tour included the mansion, where we saw the jungle room, games room, kitchen and TV room amongst many other rooms on the ground level (the upper level is kept closed as Elvis kept it private when he was alive too). We also saw the trophy room, where all his gold records are kept and there are a lot! We visited the offices, meditation garden, swimming pool and graves too.
The whole museum/house is exactly as Elvis had left it and included his clothes, jewellrey, gun collection and exerts from his performances, interviews and films. We also saw his customised planes, car collection and a new exhibition called Elvis After Dark, which explains Elvis's pass times and hobbies. The tour was really good, even though it was really busy, we managed to see everything and got a real insight into Elvis's life.
