Here is another update from the birding trips I do very early on a Saturday morning out and about round the Kathmandu valley with friends of birds
Birdwatching at Bajrabarahi in the Kathmandu valley on 7 March 2009 -

The birding at Bajrabarahi went well and we were lucky to record some good number of birds listed as below, though we could have seen always more and the hunger to see is never satisfied as far as I am concerned.
Any way following encouraging number of participation includes: 1. Lokendra Rai (trekking guide) 2. Krishna Gurung (trekking guide), 3. Rajendra Gurung (trekking guide + EC member BCN), 4. Vimal Thapa (EC member and trekking professional) Following birds were recorded at Bajrabarahi today on 7th March 2009: 1. Rufous Woodpecker 1 seen and heard 2. Fulvous-breasted Woodpecker 1 seen and heard 3. Great Barbet 3+ seen and heard 4. Blue-throated Barbet 4+ seen and heard 5. White-throated Kingfisher 1 heard before the forest 6. Rose-ringed Parakeet 5+ seen and heard 7. House Swift few flying above the forest 8. Rock Pigeon 9. Ashy Wood Pigeon 1+ seen 10. Oriental Turtle Dove 1 seen 11. Black Kite seen few around the forest 12. Crested Serpent Eagle (juvenile) 1 seen and heard above the forest 13. Upland Buzzard 3 seen?? 14. Steppe Eagle 1 seen flying over the forest 15. Common Kestrel 1 female seen 16. Long-tailed Shrike heard only 17. Red-billed Blue Magpie 3+ seen and heard 18. Grey Treepie 2 seen and heard 19. House Crow 20. Large-billed Crow 21. Scarlet Minivet 1 seen and heard 22. Black Drongo 3+ seen 23. Blue Whistling Thrush 1 seen 24. Verditer Flycatcher 1+ seen and heard 25. Grey-headed Canary Flycatcher 1+ seen and heard 26. Grey Bush Chat heard in a distance 27. Common Myna - heard and seen 28. Jungle Myna heard and seen 29. Chestnut-bellied Nuthatch 4+ seen and heard 30. Great Tit - heard and seen 31. Black-lored Tit heard and seen 32. Barn Swallow seen 33. Red-vented Bulbul 2 seen and heard 34. Black Bulbul 3+ seen and heard 35. Oriental White-eye seen and heard 36. Common Tailorbird heard and seen 37. Zitting Cisticola heard 38. Hume's Warbler - seen and heard 39. Grey-hooded Warbler heard 40. Fire-breasted Flowerpecker heard and seen 41. House Sparrow 42.
