Day 6 - 8am was our pick up time for our trip to marrakash as it was rather a long 3 hour drive, our tour guide was rather talkative telling us about the area, the sights, everything, he told us about how goats climb into the argan trees and bite off all the fruits and then when the goats get back to the farms they spit out whats left of the fruits which is a seed which is ground down to make the famously expensive argan oil. Yeah right! Goats in a tree.....and as if by magic we pull over and holy s*** theres goats in a tree!!! Like high up in the tree too on tiny thin branches, possibly the most unbelievable thing ive ever seen, even after seeing it with my own eyes, and taking photos i still dont quite believe that i saw it, truly an unbelievable sight.
The remainder of the journey to marrakesh involved some brand new motorway and me sleeping a lot. We arrived about 11am after having a little service stop and had a small tour of an old palace, unfortunately this was pretty boring for me, pretty tiles, lovely architecture blah blah we also for a little walking tour that was around the local market place which was kinda cute, nice to see how the morrocans actually live, altho the plethera of wasps and flied all over food was a tad gross for my western life. We went for some lunch after our walk which was the same sort of food tagines, chicken, goat....what id do for a big juicy steak, chips and mushroom right now you cant imagine. After lunch we went to the main square in marrakesh which is aparently amazing at night....it wasnt night! The market stalls were few and far between and our walking tour involved a lot more stores selling leather, pots, boxes and a hell of a lot more cats which was joyce's living nightmare :( i became cat protector and rushed us past all the biggest groups of cats and finally back into the square for safety. I had a bucket list requirement for marrakesh which was to get a picture with a monkey and as soon as we stepped into the square we found some monkeys yes! Another tick on my bucket list! As we'd done a walkin tour tht was pretty much marrakesh covered as aparently its the night time when everything comes alive, so we sat at a little cafe and got a drink and i went and bought even more sunglasses, i really do think i have an addiction and decided that instead of waiting until 8pm that we'd done everything we could so we went at 5pm again for another long drive back to the hotel. We arrived back well after 10pm and went to bed ready to be up for camel ride and 2 hour massage ooooh yeah!!!
