In our last game in the heats we lost 2-1 to New Zealand. In the bronze medal play off against Australia we lost 4-2. We were sad not to win a medal but overall really pleased with our performance. Everyone was shattered after playing 7 games in 9 days in high temperatures.
At the end of the last game I got hit in the mouth with the ball and split the inside of my lip. I had to go to the local hospital to check whether I needed stitches. Luckily they said I did not need them. My mouth was swollen for a day or two but soon healed up.
On Thursday 7th April we left Canberra for the Blue Mountains. We picked up our hire car and drove up via the scenic route through Gouldurn and Taralaga. It was a lovely day with lovely scenery. We arrived at the Waldorf Leura and were surprised to find other members of the Welsh hockey team had booked the hotel for a few days stay as well. (Lynne, Jude, Elin and Lou). We went out for a meal that evening in Leura. The restaurant was called the Garage and we had a lovely night.
