Since our last blog we had a couple more wonderful days with our German friends. We were planning a full day shopping in Dusseldorf but Trish sat on her bed and managed somehow to break the slats. Wonderful Wolfie went off to the Australian equivalent of Bunnings and made the appropriate repairs. He got extra slats in case Wendy destroyed her bed as well. They had no worries about Pam wrecking a bed as she was sleeping very comfortably on a mattress on the floor. Pam and Wendy tried not to laugh but Trish was very upset. She felt much better after she told Katrin and Katrin laughed. It seems it has happened before when the kids jumped on the bed.
Even though our day in Dusseldorf was cut short we managed to contribute to the German economy to the point we have had to send a parcel of clothes home to get the new ones in the cases.
For our last night we went to a Chinese Restaurant . The food and wine were very good. Apologies to our Kiwi friends who will read this blog but we tried to explain the Hakka. The pictures will show we were not very successful.
It was very sad to say good bye to Katrin but we have promised we will be back. Wolfie and Beate took us to the airport where along the way we saw the extent of the damage from the storm a couple of nights previously.
Again it was hard to say good bye but we are hoping to see them next year in Bali for Beate's 60th. We managed to get through the first bit of customs but not the last bit. Pam had forgotten she had a jar of Vegemite in her back pack. She had a bit of trouble trying to explain what it was - the customs man declined a taste but took it anyway - no doubt he enjoyed it the next day on his toast. Wendy and Trish lost their water!!! Beate and Wolfie could see something was happening but we guess they knew everything was OK as we were laughing and they did not get a call to bail us out of jail.
We arrived in Copehagen and found our hotel ok and met the people on our Scandinavian tour. Our tour guide is an Italian who lives in Denmark and prefers to speak Spanish. He has a problem identifying where people come from. He refers to the Americans from LA as the Indians from Punjab, the Americans from San Francisco as the Chinese, the American girl from Dallas as the Kenyan and the latest Americans to our group as the Irish!!!! He seems OK identifying the South Americans.
After a tour around Copehagen (by a local guide) we caught the overnight ship to Oslo. It was a pretty tight squeeze in our cabin but we managed. The weather has been magnificent . Fingers crossed it continues.
We did another quick tour in Oslo with a local guide before heading off to Geilo where we spent the night. We actually go back to Oslo and are looking forward to having more time there.
We are now in Bergen. The scenery on the way here can only be described as spectacular. We went through a couple of tunnels complete with round abouts. Certainly a different experience. It is very expensive in this part of the world but worth ever Kroner.
We have wi fi in the bus but it only works when we are close to the bigger towns. The hotels have it too but it sometimes does not work too well.
Hope you are all well. Thanks for the
messages.

Mike & Carol Sounds like you are having too much fun! Cooking won't be quite as fancy when you get here. Looks like Mike should be able to come with me to pick you up, so that's a good thing. Getting anxious for you to cross the big sea! Continue having a blast!
Jill Crow Love the Troll - looks like the one we have!
Beate & Wolfie Hope you have met some real Norwegian people by now, not just Troll's. Your fotos from Norway bring back the good memories we have us cruising along the Fjord coast line. How do you cope with the long daylight ? Short nights ?! Have fun !!
John Okay, that Troll looks like I did the other morning after the horse races in paradise. Keep the photos coming. Looking forward to seeing you guys soon. Just a forthnight before you join us in paradise.
Jann Hello Ladies! Your blog reminds me of my travels 40 years ago....the road to Bergen by bus, then later back to Bergen by train. Yes was very expensive then too...but def worth it! Currently I am duplicating (with camera) 1200 slides from my travels in the 70s....have yet to come to Norway but Germany and Holland slides have re-kindled many memories! Keep on having fun! Love, Jann
