Today was our first day after our program, and we were not going to waste it away. So before going to sleep the night before, Rasam and I planned a packed day to see all of Gaudi's work. However, we had to make reservations to Paris for Thursday since we didn't want what happened to us on Monday happen again. So after breakfast, we headed to the train station. It took us a good two hours to make reservations. There was a long line there and so many people in the train station. It didn't help that the stations were so humid and had no circulation. But we were able to get them, and soon we were off to the Sagrada familia.
When we got out of the station, there was a line wrapping around the block for tickets to get into the church. It was ridiculous. As we were about to wait in line, I quickly checked on my phone on their website if there was any possible tickets available for today or tomorrow, and luckily I was able to find some. So I bought them since I didn't want to spend half the day waiting in line. So we just got a glimpse of the Sagrada Familia, which was huge when your next to it. It was so beautiful. The architecture. The style. It was perfect. But I didn't want to spend to much time staring at it if we were coming again tomorrow, so we left to go and see the Parque Guell.
We got there after walking for a bit and that was also another shocker to see. It was so beautiful and perfect. Just how I saw in my class textbooks. Perfection. We were able to get tickets to see the monumental stuff, but since the park was free, we all split up to explore on our own and decided to meet up two hours later. I went to the Casa Guell Museum and saw Gaudi's furniture design as well as his other works on display. Afterwards I roamed around the park, going up higher and higher where I stopped and sketched a view of the city and the ocean. I loved it. I spent about half an hour there just admiring the view. I left to go down and see what else was around in the park. I got to the food area and saw a bunch of people selling keychains and magnets and I thought, hmm, let me look. I saw one that I liked, but before I could look at more, the guy, as well as everyone else who had their stuff in the floor, picked up their blankets and starting walking away. The guy I was about to buy the keychain gave it to me and asked for money but all I had taken out was two euros and I just threw it too him. Then it hit me: I just bought something from the black market. Haha.
After that incident, I went to go meet up Rasam and Noelle and we went to go eat. I had a piña colada, which, in this horrible heat, was refreshing. We then went to go see the monumental stuff after our food. That's when we got to the famous lizard, the amazing architecture of underneath the plaza and the cool wavy benches. After seeing the park, we left to go see his other works. I wanted to see Casa Mila but it was under construction so they had a trap over the facade of the building, the most important thing and the only thing I wanted to see. But it was okay, down the street I was able to see Casa Batllo, another one of his famous works as well as his fancy lamp posts. To end our great adventures, we had some cheap McDonalds and then headed to our hostel as we were all tired and ready for bed.
