We checked into Southern Cross in Agnes Waters which was very chilled out and had a great vibe to it. We didn't even need to lock the room doors and my room was the England dorm. We hung by the pool for a few hours and then I watched 27 dresses in the tv room. That night we made some dinner and had an early night.
The next morning I went on an orientation tour of Agnes Water and 1770. It was a nice little tour but boy was it a gimic to sell tours and activites to you. I was already booked on the Scooteroo for that day so they did not need to sell it to me. 1770 was given that name as that was when James Cook landed back then and discovered it. He then went on to the Whitsundays and Cairns. He went by the title of Liutanent but then upgraded to Captain. It was a lovely lookout and there were sandunes further out which big trucks that can go in water mount and then carry on to the island further out. I met the lovely Gemma, Melissa and Nicki that day from England. When we got back to the hostel Gemma and I had a good old chat with a cuppa and some lunch. I was heading off at 2.30 for Scooteroo. Ok you should probably google the tour. It basically is a group of people heading out on choppers of 55cc engine and driving for 60km.You dress up in leather and helmets and can add tatooes for added effect- which of course I did, a tatoo on my neck and cheek and honestly it is one of the best things I have done on my trip to date. I giggled the whole time as it was so liberating and definitely got the adrenaline going. When we selected our bikes I went for the row 2 of 4 which meant I had some experience but not loads as I felt brave. If you had loads of experience then you went to row 1 and had the high handle bars bikes. I was the second girl out of the court out of 40 people and 13th out amongst the guys so I felt pretty proud of myself. The guy in front of me was from Hatch End which was amusing. Him and his wife had moved to Melbourne to live and were on holiday. We all then rowed in a line for the next few hours, there were times we could overtake and I ended up in 8th position. Not bad but not good enough. I proceeded to get up to 3rd position but I wanted the number 1 spot (come on I am Aries it's natural for me to be competitive) We saw some wild roos and took some funny pics with the bikes. We watched the sunset on 1770 with potatoe wedges with sour crean and sweet chilli- LUSH!! When I say we I was hanging with 3 Irish brothers from the hostel. We agreed the girl up front would not let anyone in to first position so we were determined to race. So when we hit the road again for home we shot off to try and get first position. It ended up with 3 of us racing along side each other, it was the funniest thing. I then managed to get along side the annoying girl up front and she would not budge back. The leader saw us and stuck up one finger for single file and she eventually dropped back. When we stopped he gave me a right telling off. Funny how he did not moan at the other girl, i reckon he fancied her. He was moaning how accidents happen as we would clip each other and could of caused an accident, blah blah blah! Anyway victory was mine as I made it to first position- HOORAY!! We then got back to the yard. When he came over to switch off my bike or something, I was already in the process of doing it and I kicked him as i did not realise he was behind me. He was like is that payback for telling you off (Err YES) I really hate it when people talk to you like you are 13 again and some of the Ozzies out here take real pleasure in that. Anyway pictures collected and an excellent day over we headed back to the hostel. I met back up with the English girls and there was a group heading out but I did not join them I just hung out with them in the hostel until they left. I felt shattered and I had to be up at 5.30 for my bus to Rainbow beach :(
The next morning up nice and early. Oh but let me tell you about that night when I decided to stay home and have an early night. I got woken by the Dutch guy above me snoring and then from a guy entering our room and getting into the bed of the girl beside me and proceeding to get up to something. It was so ackward, like WTF do you do when this happens. I shifted about to try and be obvious I was awake but it didn't seem to work. He eventually left but not after I was now officially irritated and sleep deprived. Anyway the next day we arrived in Rainbow beach about midday and checked into our room.
