We got to our hostel and literally collapsed. We woke up the next day and I was happy to enjoy some cornflakes for the first time in South America. Gosh its amazing how you miss some things :) We then headed out for a look around the square. It was the day of the elections.. and it was Sunday so most things were shut anyway. Its quite nice as most things are closed in South America on Sundays. Not like us Western countries were everything is open even on Christmas day. As usual Salta had a gorgeous square with lovely little cafes around it. There was a statue in the middle of a man on a horse and there was a gorgeous pink church on the square. We found somewhere to have some lunch then looked around some of the shops. We then headed for a piece of cake and tea. I had an iced tea with a dulce de leche & chocolate cake. Aimee had a non chocolate one as she gave it up for lent. It was called Duronzo and was more of a creamy one.. both of them were extremely delicious but made us feel incredibily sick.. so rich!! But you have to try and enjoy these treats whilst in the country. After checking out this pretty little city we headed back to the hostel. It was nice to have our own room and especially with a TV so we managed to watch some American shows and a film- Deja Vu and The Invasion before we fell asleep. It also gave me a chance to update the blog..
The next morning we woke up made some eggs and headed out. We went to the local supermarket which was rammed and got some bits for the 22 hour bus ride to Buenos Aires. I had checked out buses so we suspected there would be a few around 1pm we could catch. It was a shame as we thought we could spend another day in Salta and see more of it before we left but we wanted to be in BA for Tuesday at the latest. So at the moment I write this from my bus to BA.. mental really and shows how modern technology has developed.. even for the poorer countries..we are on average being fed every 4 hours so far.. great service and the best and the most comfortable chairs for such a long trip. So I am now up to date on my blogs and so are you all on my trip in South America.Wednesday its my 28th birthday and it makes a big change not to be in the country celebrating with friends and family..but I am celebrating with Ellen, Aimee and Martin and any one who wants to join in the party really. I do love the fact I am in a different country for my birthday this year and especially to be in the party capital of Argentina.. I think we will a nice little day somewhere maybe sight seeing and then an evening of good STEAK...dance- tango or salsa before we party the night away.. I am majorly excited!! I also feel I have so much to be thankful for.. its been the best year of my life by far.. amazing travel and of course not forgetting the brilliant friends and family I have in my life.. new and old! So here's a thank you to you all for being the people you are and blessing my life.. Lets toast to another great year! Who knows what the next year will bring :) 6 weeks until I come home people so I will be seeing you soon..
