Friday 12th May - Cape Leeuwin
Left early for a trip out to Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse and Augusta. Weather is fine, but storms are predicated by the weekend. Temperature is the same as Kiama but much cooler nights.
We stopped for morning coffee at Cowaramup, and true to it's name, there were cows everywhere. Statutes that is. Kiama eat your heart out - we only have one Daisy - these guys have about 160 of them! So quaint some of these small towns. Apparently it was a brain wave of someone to have it as an art project to buy all these cows.
We did a tour of the Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, which is situated at the junction of the Southern and Indian Oceans, and even though we were freezing, it was a wonderful tour with amazing views out over the oceans.
We had lunch at Augusta pub then headed out to Margaret River and popped into Leeuwin Winery. We didn't do any wine tasting, just checked out the gardens.
We were advised not to miss Voyager Estate Winery, merely for the gardens so this was out next stop. And we were not disappointed - the gardens were just absolutely amazing. Just beautiful, and the biggest Kitchen Garden we have ever seen.
We asked if we could have some afternoon tea, and were escorted into the main, very ornate dining room where we enjoyed tea and coffee, and a delicious cheese platter consisting of cheese, bikkies, fig paste, muscatels and almonds. It was awesome.
And no, once again - no wine tasting. We just pretended we were rich for a half hour or so.
