26th April
This morning we had a 397km drive to Bremer Bay. We left the highway for this little spot as it was highly recommended to us. So about a 66km detour (as if we are not doing enough kms already!
We had morning tea at Balladonia and this was a very busy spot. There was a caravan park here, roadhouse and, of course, a fuel stop. Wherever there is fuel, there are caravans.
We then had lunch at Jerramungup, and naturally, lots of fellow A'Vanners joined us. They all just meander in doing what we all are, finding a little picnic table with the added advantage of toilets, and we gather like bees around a honey pot!
And we now encountered a WA name - lots of letters with "up" on the end. We have been told it means "surrounded by water".
It was a tedious drive today as the road was not quite so good. On arrival, we were shown to two very large, grassy, sunny spots and it was just such a lovely place to set up and relax.
After a very cold night, the next morning we had a lovely walk to the main beach which was just stunning. As the sand was hard, there were also some 4 x wheel drive vehicles parked there. Looked like a really good fishing spot.
We then drove up to the top lookout and it was just so beautiful with the Southern Ocean on all sides of us wherever we looked. A hidden gem.
Bremer Bay is known for it's beautiful beaches but it is a quaint, quiet town with a rammed earth Catholic Church and all facilities including a resort, sporting clubs etc plus the ever important IGA. A very relaxing couple of days prior to heading into Denmark for the AGM and get-together with the A'Van Club
