Monday 24th April
On the road again for our 308 km drive to Esperance for two nights. We are still on the Eyre Highway of course, so very easy driving. We had morning tea at Norseman and then we headed onto the Coolgardie/Esperance Highway.
Noresman is the end of the Nullabor but we thoroughly enjoyed our first trip across, and would do it all again in a heartbeat!
We settled into the Pink Lake Caravan Park, which was just lovely, green grass finally, rose gardens, and 10/10 for the amenities. Once again, there are other A'Vanners in this park, and they are scattered all over Esperence.
Tuesday 25th April - Anzac Day. Lest We Forget
Today we drove the Ocean Loop Road with lots of lookouts along the way with stunning views of the ocean and the beautiful limestone cliffs, which WA is famous for. There was also a lookout at the Pink Lake which was pretty amazing and really interesting as to what makes it turn pink.
It is too complicated for me to put into words, but apparently the algae contains an amazing amount of beta carotene which turns pink to protect the lake from the sun.
We walked around the Esplanade, which is beautiful and enjoyed a pie for lunch from the French Patisserie, and watched the Light Horseman clip, clop their way down the street to then dismount and look after their horses. A very simple Anzac Day ceremony this morning.
As there are now about 8 A'Vans here, from all over Australia we had dinner at the pub, with 16 of us for dinner. We are gathering numbers as we continue on our way.
